08/30/03 - I KNOW, I KNOW, SORRY!!!!! - Home

Hello friends, where do I even begin? Hectic tour scheduling, bad internet connections, and pure exhaustion are my slacking excuses. I haven't updated road notes in a while, but I've tried. Let me rewind a few weeks to get you caught up. I traveled to Owensboro, KY where the original members of Kickback Jack reunited for two days earlier this month. The new record is set to release soon and we had to take care of some post production business. A radio interview, meetings and photo shoot took place. I'm very excited about this record and I'm very proud of it. Matt (Mutt) Gray did a tremendous job on everything, the man is a genious. There is talk of a DVD release along with the new record as a film crew was present the whole time. No release date has been set, but it will be posted here once it has. It was then back on the road, Vicky drove up to see me at the Chillicothe, OH show. After the show we received a call on our cell about one of her family members in poor health. We had to make a road trip and it was all left up to Kasey to fill in the next night for me at the St. Mary's, OH show. I heard he did a great job and thank you Kasey for pulling through for us. All is well now and I received a lot of e-mail with wishes and prayers. Thanks to everyone for that. While driving through Nashville, I elbowed Vicky and pointed out a white van with a trailer. It was Bone Pony on their way back home after a gig. I keep on running into those boys. Vicky drove me to meet back up with the tour in PA. There were only a few remaining shows with Buddy Leach. He got the call to work for George Thorogood & the Destroyers. As I write this, he's on tour with them now. Check his site at www.georgethorogood.com  for info on them, and catch them in concert if you can. There are actually photos of Buddy on that site, check out the last few dates. We gave Buddy a good send off in Frankfort, NY. It happened to be his birthday that night also. Photos below show the fun. Turns out, Buddy will be rejoining us as the Thorogood tour dates are slowing down this time of the season, so it'll be great having him on the road. It's been a good tour, it's starting to wind down now. Last week  we played the make up date for the rain out show a few months back in Massilon, OH. It's rained us out the last two times we played there, but not that night. There was nothing but heat, music and dancing in the streets. The crowd was huge and ready for the show. A wonderful high lite on this tour so far. The week home has been great to spend with loved ones. Vic and I hung with some friends over dinner before seeing the new Freddy movie. It was great, go see it if you're into that sorta thing. I'm off to update more on my site if my computer allows.  Keep your eyes peeled for new merch. on my site very soon. Thanks again for keeping up with me...rock on...dp

08/04/03 - EVERYTHING'S A BEATLES SONG - Home

Hello friends, more craziness as promised from the road, and this time, I have photos and video. The tour led us through a lot of weather lately as more than a handful of shows have been either rained out or threatened with bad weather. As my title says, "Everything is a Beatles song", we've been singing Beatles tunes and turning them into recent event lyrics, such as..."Here comes the RAIN"...and "Band in a box" (see video for more on that one). It started raining on us during sound check as we retreated to the crew truck for shelter. Tom Ogden showed up again at a show, it was great hanging with him and talking rock n roll again. The crowds have been great and it really peps us up to see the fans with their support. I come home to my family and excited about being home. Vic fixed some wonderful chili and made a noodle dish with shrimp and mushrooms that just kicks butt. My cats are racing across my stomach every few minutes happy that "Daddy" is home. It's wonderful to come home to this, I've never been happier! Vic and I also sat and watched Sammy Hagar on the Emril show, that was a hoot. Today, I'll leave for my old hometown of Owensboro, KY to work on promotions for the upcoming Kickback Jack release. I'll have more details in a few days of radio stations and air times of the interview that will take place this week. I'm sure to have a few video clips to post in a few days also, so keep your eyes peeled. For now, I'm kicking back rocking with my HEART live in concert DVD and enjoying my living room. Right on, rock on...c-ya soon...dp
