02.05.07 - KICKING OFF 2007 - Home
Hello friends, what's up guys and dolls? Believe it or not, I did this awesome review of 2006 on the Dec. 06 page, attempting to make up for last years piss poor road notes. The review took you mostly through the year and I even did a nice little tear jerking tribute to my son David Tyler Parks who turned one on Dec. 29th. I remember cause I was in Chicago at a hotel just before show time, squeezing in every second that I would have been on a nap to write these notes for the site, however...my luck caught me right in the chin again and this time it deleted my whole section for the Dec page. I was furious, after spending all that time, it was all just gone. If someone out there happened to get any of it saved, please forward it to me, Mom, this means you also. Anyhoooo, the LoCash tour started off in 07 as most tours do at the beginning of any year, slow. Spot gigs here and there, but February has as making up for the lack of gigs in Jan. Playing in Owensboro, KY my hometown was a pretty special night for me. I had not played that room in over two or three years. It is the same venue that I had seen dozens of concerts in my earlier years as well as auditioned on that very stage for my professional start in the music business, I got that audition also. It was the summer of 1994, 18 and not even out of high school, and I was off on the road with my first touring band, working as a musician. Going back to Owensboro with a band such as LoCash Cowboys really made me proud as I had dozens and dozens of family and friends and not to mention fans from previous bands there to show support. The Owensboro new paper had even caught wind I was heading back to town and ran a small article on me a few weeks prior to the show, feels good...hometown boy does good sorta thing. That weekend also seen my premiere on four major networks. I had been on TLC with LoCash in 06, but this was the first time I had graced the networks such as MTV, VH1, CMT and LOGO. As most of you know, LoCash filmed a segment for the reality TV show, "Becoming Miss America". My face seen plenty of air time and it was crazy to me, but nice. As most of you know, January was the month that Brandon Onstad decided to move on and is now promoting his new band, "Road Mark" out of Nashville. Look him up on the myspace, I'm sure you'll find him. I wish Brandon the best in the future. LoCash now has a new bass player, "Brent Irving". Brent and I had worked together previously with Phil Vaught. I had suggested Brent when I heard the bass position would be opening up as he has worked his first trip with the band and fell right into place just like I knew he would. He however does not have a LoCash name yet, but I assure you, it's only a matter of time on that one. Being that my camera is out of commision til I get it fixed, I haven't been able to get up and going. That is on my ever growing "things to do" list. I've been brain storming over what to post along with the road notes. I've come up with "Bus Movies"...Each week or posting or so, I will post, "This weeks bus movies"...which is a list of what DVD'S that we've been watching on the bus lately. I'll be vamping this all up real soon, so stay tuned...rock on...c-ya in Tampa - dp
